Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Sandylane

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not for humans. They belong to the hidden people who still own the damp ground beneath Limerick pasture. The ring measures forty metres across, a perfect circle in land that does not prefer perfection. Its name is a warning, not a joke.
Situated in low-lying, poorly-drained, gently undulating pasture. Indicated with hachures as an embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on the 1840 OS 6-inch map. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 19 June 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
