What is recorded here

Manning holds one of five ringforts clustered on the western side of the townland. The fort sits atop a natural knoll in pasture, enclosing a roughly circular thirty-by-twenty-eight metre area with an earthen bank, fosse and outer stone bank. A break in the eastern banks invites entry, while a possible underground passage in the western quadrant suggests the site did more than exclude strangers.

Roughly circular area (30m E-W; 28m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank NW->NE; scarp (H 0.7m to base of fosse) elsewhere with slight internal lip (H 0.1m); intervening fosse; outer stone bank (H 0.6m). Break in banks to E. Possible Man-made underground passage (CO027-156---) in W quadrant of interior.
