What is recorded here

Clonoose Little held a thirty-metre earthen ring until early 1980s work removed it. The lost fort may have marked a boundary, sheltered a household or served a ceremony now forgotten. Its entrance and purpose have departed with the soil, leaving only the memory of a circular presence on the Cavan landscape.

Levelled in the early 1980s (local information). An earlier report (OPW 1970) described a raised circular area (int. diam. c. 29m) enclosed by a low earthen bank. Original entrance was not identifiable. Not visible at ground level. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995).
