What is recorded here

Enclosure in Grangeford is a ruined ringfort in County Carlow, Ireland. It is marked by a faint western bank and the local name Rath. The site may have been a defended home, a seasonal camp or a boundary marker, but its exact role has faded. What remains is a thin line in the earth, waiting for someone to remember why it was shaped.

In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Known locally as 'Rath'. Traces of bank, probably from W side of site. Location suggests a ringfort.
