Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Cashelfinoge OR Lugnamuddagh, County Roscommon, Ireland. The circular overgrown area sits towards the top of an east-facing drumlin slope. Three earthen banks and two fosses form concentric rings around the centre. Upright stones line the inner edge of the main bank.
Towards the top of the E-facing slope of a drumlin. Circular overgrown area (diam. c. 30m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3-4m; int. H 0.2-0.8m; ext. H 1.1-1.45m) revetted internally by upright stones. The bank is separated by a fosse (at W: Wth of top 6.4m; Wth of base 3.5m; D 0.3m) SE-W-N, reduced to a berm (Wth 7-7.6m) NE-E, from a middle bank (Wth 5.5-6m; int. H 0.3-0.6m; ext. H 0.3-0.6m) which survives SE-N. An outer fosse (Wth of top 3.7m; D 0.05-0.6m) girdles the entire monument, with a third earthen bank (Wth 3.5-3.6m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.1-0.2m) SW-W (max. ext. diam. 61m E-W). Earthwork site (RO006-073003-) is c. 20m to the NE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
