Clooneen monastery vanished into the Orchard field, leaving behind an acre of irregular enclosure and a quarter-acre plot called the Old Street, pocked with little hillocks that may have marked buried roofs, graves or forgotten paths. The church and monastery were long obliterated when Carrigan described them in 1905, yet the land still carries their shape in the western part of the second field south of the graveyard. What is gone has not been erased; it has been renamed, farmed and remembered through the odd contours of the soil.

Unlocated ecclesiastical enclosure near Clooneen church that is described by Carrigan as 'in the western part of the second field south of Clooneen graveyard, is a plot one quarter of an acre in area, full of little hillocks and called 'the Old Street'.
