Burial in Duncarbry

Burial

What is recorded here

Duncarbry in County Leitrim holds a buried chamber where at least one adult and two children rest beneath two metres of soil. The dead likely belong to the post medieval period, yet the exact spot has vanished from human memory. Distance alone does not diminish love, but forgetting the address steals the dead again.
The meager remains of at least one adult and two children, probably post medieval in date, were found at a depth of c. 2m, and c. 30m to N of the cross (LE001-031001-) in 1997 (SMR file), but the exact location is not known.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
