Bundrowes Castle vanished before Fagan reached Magheracar in 1847, leaving no stone or trench for him to describe. The Civil Survey still called it an old castle, proving the land remembered what the eye could no longer find. Perhaps roots drank the mortar or floodwater carried the walls to the sea, but the absence itself became the shape of the place.
