What is recorded here
Dromiskin’s underground passage cuts beside a ringfort, revealing small cell-like rooms that open into one another rather than a single broad chamber. People may have stored grain, hidden tools or simply sat in the cool dark when summer heat pressed against the stone above. The cells still suggest occupation, not decoration, as though someone shaped the earth to hold daily life away from sight.
The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
