What is recorded here

Indicated is a ruined fairy fort in County Cork, its earthen bank reduced to a shallow scarp that barely rises above the long grass and thistles. The circle measures thirty metres across, yet ploughing and field boundaries have eaten into its NE edge until the rampart disappears altogether. What remains is a ghost of a wall, visible only when the eye traces the slight dip in the pasture rather than the hand touching stone.

In rough pasture, on gentle E-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure on 1842 OS 6-inch map; shown as part of field fence system W->S on 1904 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps; levelled to NE on 1937 OS 6-inch map. Circular area (32.5m E-W; 30.5m N-S) defined by scarp (H 0.85m) NE->W; earthen bank (max. int. H 0.8m; max. ext. H 0.75m) W->N. Approx 6m beyond scarp to S and W is field boundary (H 1.3m) respecting site. Interior covered in long grass and thistles. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 513) as levelled single-ramparted fort on J.
