Enclosure in Corries OR Corrymore — Report the wrong picture

Corries enclosure is a vanished ringfort in County Carlow, Ireland. Aerial shadows still trace a circular home with a crescent-shaped annexe at the north and east, resembling its named neighbour. The earth has taken back the wooden doors, stone floors and ordinary lives that filled it, leaving only a clean absence where people once lived.

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Shown on 1908 'OS 6-inch' map as circular area defined by two banks indicated by hachures (max. diam. c. 50m). No visible surface traces. Aerial photograph (GSI S 279) suggests ringfort with crescent-shaped annexe at N and E, possibly similar to Corries ringfort (CW019-030001-).
