What is recorded here

Indicated is a circular stone fort on a sunny slope above the Roughty River, where a rebuilt wall now hides the true entrance. It stands in rough pasture with cattle breaks at east, south and southwest, while loose stones scatter around its base. The fort may have marked territory, sheltered people or belonged to local story, but its exact purpose has faded like the path into its overgrown interior.

In rough pasture, on a S-facing slope, overlooking the valley of the Roughty River. A circular area (24.7m N-S; 24m E-W) defined by a drystone wall (T 1.5m; max. H 1.5m). The upper courses of the wall have been rebuilt and are narrower than the lower ones. The rebuilding has obscured the original entrance, though there are cattle-breaks (Wth c. 1m) at E, S and SW. The interior is overgrown and slopes gently down to the S. There are loose stones scattered around the cashel wall, both internally and externally.
