Font in Commons (newtown Ed)

Font in Commons (newtown Ed) is a damaged granite fragment, not a complete basin, and that loss is the first thing it says. It sits in a County Kildare graveyard beside a ruined church and three old cross slabs, surrounded by the kind of place where ceremonies stopped being easy to remember. Whatever life it once touched has been washed out of its shape, leaving only enough stone to suggest water, children, prayer and time.
