Carrigeen church (in Ruins), Graveyard

Cross-slab

What is recorded here

Carrigeen church in Ruins and its graveyard once held three cross-slabs, but people moved them to the RC church at Clonaslee and built one into the churchyard wall. The graveyard lost its markers, yet the stones continued marking death and faith inside another wall. What was buried beside Carrigeen may still be visible, provided someone knows which brick to touch.
Cross-slab has been moved to the RC church at Clonaslee and has been incorporated into the fabric of the churchyard wall of the RC church (LA002-012002-) and could not be found during site visit. One of a group of three cross-slabs (LA002-013006; LA002-013003-) which were moved from this graveyard to the RC church at Clonaslee. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 17 December 2007
