What is recorded here

Carrigeen church stands in ruins inside an almost circular graveyard bounded by a stone wall in County Laois. Its cross slab, marked by a small Greek cross and two cup points, left the site for Clonaslee Catholic church. The low-lying ruins and moved stone suggest a place where worship continued long after its walls collapsed.

In low lying area, undifferentiated church (LA012-013001-) within an almost circular graveyard (LA002-013002-) which is delimited by a stone wall. Cross slab originally came from here but have been now moved to Clonaslee Catholic church (LA002-012001-). Depicted as Carrigeen no. 3 by Leask and described as a 'perfect slab about the same length as no. 2 but somewhat wider. It bears a two-line cross, with no side arms expanded at ends into half rounds and into a circle at centre, concentric with an inner circle in which is a small Greek incised cross (2" x 2").
