In Ballybar Upper, a shallow pit held the cremated remains of a child between three and ten years old, accompanied by a single chert tool. The small depth and modest contents suggest a private loss rather than a grand ceremony, yet the fire and burial marked the child as worthy of remembering. Nearby, another person lay buried in the earth, creating a quiet contrast between flame and soil. The road builders later uncovered this hidden life, proving that even ordinary ground can preserve the shape of ancient grief.

Excavated in advance of construction of the N9/N10 Kilcullen-Waterford Road (Excavation Licence number E2588). One of two cremation pits (see also CW012-144----), (L 0.88m; Wth 0.62m; D 0.27m) which contained a small amount of cremated human remains of one individual whose age at death was assessed to be between 3 and 10 years. A single chert artefact was found in the pit. A single inhumation (CW012-130----) were located c. 32m west.
