What is recorded here

Holy well is a modest spring near Templemichael in County Limerick that appears on an old map but is no longer recognised locally as a holy place. It may have been a passing devotion rather than a lasting shrine, yet even that doubtful purpose has faded from memory. What remains is a small water source, unnamed in practice and remembered only through a line in an old survey.
Ó Danachair (1955, 213) recorded the following details about this doubtful holy well; ‘"Holy Well on 1840 map. Not known in the locality as a holy well. The entry in OSNB reads: "Hollywell? inhabitants. Holy? Is a spring well about 3 feet in diameter '. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 01 July 2019
