Moated site in Ardanreagh — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

A rectangular moated enclosure stands in wet pasture south of Lough Gur, its scarp and fosse still marking a boundary the surrounding grass has never fully erased. The shape appears in aerial images rather than old maps, suggesting the water and clay hid it from cartographers but not from the land itself. It may have been a residence, a trap, or a place where people stood knee-deep in cold water while watching the road nearby. The moat did not need a gate because the whole region was already saturated.

In rough and wet, low lying pasture, 45m E of a watercourse, 60m NW of a public road, 150m E of a townland boundary with Tullabracky and 1.5km SW of Lough Gur. Ringfort (LI032-118----) lies 190m to N. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Monument identified as a rectangular-shaped cropmark by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 202: AP 5/2010). Monument is visible as a rectangular-shaped enclosure (55m E-W; 45m N-S) defined by a scarp and an external fosse on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-2012, on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimage taken 16/03/2016.
