What is recorded here

Two upright stones still stand in a boggy valley beside Borlin Valley, one a neat slab and the other a smaller block set askew, as if a circle lost most of its members but kept enough to suggest shape. They are not aligned the way a finished monument would be, yet their difference preserves the idea that people once chose this place, marked it, and left it half-complete. A cooking pit lies nearby, which adds the smell of food and the chance that the stones belonged to gathering rather than mystery.

Within a coniferous forest, 20m S of its N perimeter, in the floor of an E-facing boggy valley surrounded by mountains on the W side of Borlin Valley. The remains comprise two upright stones. The E stone is a neat slab with a rectangular profile (H 0.95m; 1.5m x 0.15m) and is aligned ESE-WNW. The W stone (H 0.47m; 0.7m x 0.3m) stands 1.15m to the NW and is aligned NW-SE. The stones are not set with their long axes in line. The scant remains might suggest the arrangement of an axial stone (E stone) and adjoining flanking stone of a stone circle. However, further evidence would be required before ascertaining the exact nature of this monument. The surface of a slab is exposed 1.5m NE of the E stone; its outline could not be determined and its relationship to the stone group is unclear. A fulacht fia (CO091-027----) lies c. 120m to the E.
