Post box in Liscreagh dresses its post-and-telegraph initials in Celtic Revival flourishes. Even a final demand gets a little Irish dancing on the way in. Pay up, a haon, a dó, a trí.
Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, erected c. 1935, with raised P&T initials. Set into roughcast rendered wall.
This cast-iron post box is an attractive, subtle item of street furniture representing an early-surviving form of mass-produced cast-iron work. The raised detailing is of artistic interest, alluding to the Celtic Revival style and representing the continued promotion of a national identity within the emergent independent state.
