What is recorded here
Wall-mounted cast-iron post-box, erected c. 1930, having raised P&T lettering. Set in limestone wall.
This well designed post box serves as a physical reminder of the growing confidence of the Irish Free State in the 1920s and 30s. The traditional Gaelic lettering enlivens its modest form and adds artistic interest to the box. Manufacturer's name on base of letter box: 'Jessop Davis Enniscorthy'.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
