What is recorded here
Situated on the N side of a prominent hill, in pasture with good views to NE and W. Bivallate ringfort described in 1971 as a large, roughly circular-shaped area (dims. approx. 52m E-W; 50m N-S) enclosed by a bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank. A slight gap (Wth at top 4.4m; basal Wth 2m) and causeway (Wth at top 2.5m; overall Wth 5.6m; H 0.3m) across the base of the fosse at SSW may represent the remains of an original entrance. The inner bank is almost reduced to a scarp and is slightly defaced in several places, being almost completely levelled from W-NW-NNW. There is a small stone quarry in the scarp at W. There is a wide and deep U-shaped intervening fosse. An outer bank is visible from N-NE and has a modern gap at NNE. The interior has a slight S-facing slope.
