What is recorded here

Marked on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic script as 'Obelisk' and described on the 1914 ed. in italic lettering as 'Monument'. It is located on a ridge overlooking the N shore of Cavetown Lough c. 140m to the S, and c. 230m W of the site of Ballynahoogh castle (RO010-033----). This is a slightly raised earthwork carrying a late 18th century/early 19th century obelisk (RO010-027002-). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
