Mound in Wingfield

Mound

What is recorded here

According to Kinahan (1879-88, 154) there was a cairn immediately S of Kilcashel Church (WX002-001001-), which had been removed c. 1850-1860, leaving only a portion of a circle of standing stones, presumambly, a kerb. A small grass-covered mound (dims. c. 8m E-W; c. 5-6m N-S; H 0.4-0.6m) with a hollow (diam. 2m; D 0.4m) at the centre survives just outside the graveyard (WX002-001002-) at SE but within the line of the ecclesiastical enclosure (WSX002-001004-).
