What is recorded here

Situated on a hill in well-drained pasture land. An approximately circular, raised area (diam. 37m) with a bank on the periphery, surrounded by a fosse with a low, external bank. The interior contains an 18th century burial (KD036001-). Mac Niocaill (Aois 1964, 247-9) states there was a castle at Moone by 1223 which functioned as the manorial centre of the settlement.
