Freestanding limestone monument, erected c.1960, comprising carved plaque with inscription, having carved Celtic cross above and pair of crossed rifles in relief below, set on ashlar plinth. Rendered stepped platform and rendered wall to site.

This monument forms part of a significant group of Independence and civil war memorials which were erected throughout this part of Cork county, which are reminders of the sacrifices and bravery of local people during this troubled period of Irish history. The Celtic Revival font, Celtic cross and crossed rifles are typical motifs of these monuments, and are features which add artistic interest.
