What is recorded here

On a natural rise in fairly level terrain in pasture which is wet and rushy E of monument. Bivallate ringfort (diam. c. 70m) enclosed by a bank (Wth 6.9-7.9m; int. H 0.34-0.6m; ext. H 1.85-2.07); partially waterlogged fosse (Wth 2.8-3.3m; D 0.5m); berm (Wth 8.2-10m) and outer bank (Wth 4-4.3m; int. H 0.11-0.56; ext. H 1.05-1.7m). Outer bank is reduced to scarp from E-SE-S. In the S and W quadrants the interior slopes down to the bank to form a shallow internal fosse (Wth 3.4m; D 0.23m). N section of interior is divided E-W by a post and wire fence with a rough farm track running along S side of fence. Interior heavily overgrown with scrub, thorn bushes and brambles. Bank is of earthen construction. Ringfort is unusual in having a berm between the fosse and outer bank. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
