What is recorded here
On a natural rise in undulating terrain under pasture. River flows N-S 30m W of outer bank in W quadrant. Raised oval area (diam. 32.8m N-S; 25.3m E-W) defined by a low earthen and stone bank (Wth 6.9m; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 1.84-2.7m) which is mainly reduced to scarp, round-bottomed fosse (Wth 4.5m; D 0.6m) and outer bank (Wth 13.9m; ext. H 0.62m). According to the landowner some levelling took place at this monument in the 1950s and the outer bank was flattened in places, this is particularly evident in W and NW quadrant. Possible entrance in SE quadrant (Wth 5m) where the scarp is eroded, there is no corresponding causeway over the fosse. Hedgerow has been planted around the base of the outer bank in the E-SE-S sector.
