The Milestone or milepost in Leahys offers Foynes in one mile, Loughill in four and Limerick in twenty-three. That’s three levels of enthusiasm for a Sunday walk: stretch the legs, clear the head, and somebody at home has found the receipt.

Freestanding triangular-profile limestone milestone, erected c. 1870, having inscribed lettering and chamfered cap. Milestone reads: 'Limerick 23 / Foynes 1 / Loughill 4'.

This simple piece of masonry served an important practical function in the days when signposts were rare. It is well maintained and is a significant survival of street furniture.
