On the N-face of the W pier of the main entrance to a house (TS078-031----) there is a 17th-century limestone stone (dims. 0.39m Wth x 0.19m H) which bears the date 1620 with the initials 'ICMO'. The stone probably came from a house which is described in the Civil Survey (1654-6) as 'Uppon the sd lands of Coollonen stands a small stone house in a decayeing condition and noe other improvemt' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 281). In 1640 'John Butler of Lissnodobrid gent Irish Papist' is listed as the proprietor of 'Coollonen' (ibid.). Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of revised upload: 26 July 2012
