Lismeelcunnin hides a broken underground passage beside its south-west rampart, waiting for someone brave enough to dig through the overgrown fosse. Bowman recorded the ruins in 1934, but the earth has since strangled the entrance, turning a human-made tunnel into a rumour. The passage may have served the ringfort as a shelter, a drain or a secret route, yet no living memory preserves its true purpose. What remains is a hollow darkness under the bank, patient and unchanged, holding the shape of hands that stopped working centuries ago.

In ringfort (CO023-06301-). Bowman (1934, 193) recorded an almost destroyed Man-made underground passage on fosse side of SW rampart. Fosse and bank of ringfort heavily overgrown and inaccessible when site inspected. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
