Kiln

This lime kiln is referred to in the 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork - vol. 4 North Cork' (2000, 296) under the entry (no. 12650) for a rath (CO023-060001-). The lime kiln is referred to in the entry as follows: At the NW edge of the rath (CO023-060001-) is a circular depression (diam. c. 3m; D 1.3m), the S half of which is stone lined. The stones are vitrified and the earth burnt red. This appears to be the remains of a limekiln. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
