Man-made underground passage in Coyne

Situated on a low rise, in pasture, with good views, particularly to N. Monument described in 1978 as a hole in the field represents the remains of a displaced roofing slab of a Man-made underground passage defined on the surface by a long, rounded mound with a number of boulders at the N end, marking the roof of the first chamber. A roof slab at the S end of a roughly rectangular-shaped chamber has collapsed leaving three substantial lintels in situ. A passage way is visible extending from the N corner of the chamber, where it is then blocked by collapsed material. It is possible that the entrance may be in this area. Near the S end of the E wall of the chamber is a small passage leading into a second long chamber (approx. dims. L 4m x 1.5m Wth). The E end of this chamber narrows into a passage which is blocked by earthen collapse. Field under tillage in 1981 and the Man-made underground passage could not be located.
