Ballyglissane hides a man-made underground passage running north, located roughly 350 metres northwest of a levelled ringfort. The exact purpose remains unclear, but the deliberate construction suggests people wanted to move through or beneath the land rather than across it. In a county where so much has been flattened or forgotten, this narrow subterranean route preserves the idea that human ingenuity can still be found beneath ordinary ground.

According to local information, a passage running N was found c. 350m NW of levelled ringfort (CO044-034---). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
