Man-made underground passage in An Luachair

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Ashe (1954, 29) noted two 'splendid' Man-made underground passages in this townland. One (KE045-103----) has been identified but the other, in a field named Páirc na nÓn, has not been located. Neither the field name (noted also by AnSeabhac 1939, 308) nor the monument are remembered locally. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 781. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 7 August 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
