The official built-heritage record describes a three-storey rounded stone tower with a three-gun battery, a rock-cut ditch and a former drawbridge. It was one of six coastal batteries built around Lough Swilly and was later changed into a private home.
A rounded Martello tower built in 1812–13 on Macamish Point to defend Lough Swilly during the Napoleonic Wars.
