Lukeswell Bridge at Knockmoylan has four arches over the meeting of the Derrylacky and Black Water rivers. Two rivers arrive with names of their own; only one gets to keep its name downstream. Even the water here needs to win an argument before it can leave.

Four-arch limestone road bridge over river, c.1825. Coursed squared limestone walls with squared limestone triangular cut-waters to piers, batter to abutment walls, and squared limestone coping to parapets. Series of four segmental arches with tooled cut-limestone voussoirs, and rendered soffits. Sited spanning confluence of Derrylacky River and Black Water River with grass banks to river.

A pleasantly-composed modest-scale bridge forming an attractive feature in the centre of Lukeswell at the confluence of the Derrylacky River and the Black Water River. Exhibiting a traditional construction in locally-sourced stone with refined dressings exhibiting high quality masonry the bridge forms an important element of the early nineteenth-century transport heritage of County Kilkenny.
