Lisnageer Fort — Report the wrong picture

Raised circular area (int. diam. 24.3m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and traces of a fosse. From ENE-SSE the bank has been transformed into a field boundary. Original entrance not recognisable. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). Lisnageer Fort, Croley is a likely early-medieval ringfort, characterised by a raised circular area enclosed by an earthen bank and partial fosse. Local tradition associates such sites with fairy lore, and they were often considered sacred or inhabited by supernatural beings in Irish folklore.
