What is recorded here

Freestanding circular-profile lamp standard, erected c.1900. Now disused. Comprising cast-iron pedestal with decorative moulded banding, fluting, swag motifs and service hatch plate, supporting shaft with arched arm having wrought-iron detailing and lamp cap.
An attractive feature of the streetscape of Bantry, the embossed decorative detailing enhances the design of this lamp and is indicative of the high level of skill and craftsmanship applied to such functional objects throughout the nineteenth and into the early twentieth century.
