What is recorded here

Ó Danachair (1955, 210) recorded the following details about this holy well; 'Lady's Well on 1840 map. A good spring in the fosse of a ring fort (LI047-068005-). Now built up with concrete, with an overflow trough for cattle drinking. "Lady's Well, now but seldom frequented". OSL. No devotions now, but still regarded as a holy well'. Linked to a local tradition of healing, the well may have been dedicated to a saintly or folkloric female figure, as was common with "Lady's Wells" in Ireland, often associated with Saint Brigid or other female saints. The site's location within the fosse of a ring fort suggests a long history of sacred or ritual use, blending pre-Christian and Christian traditions.
