Limekiln, built c. 1820, set against quarry face. Now disused. Rubble limestone walls with round-arched opening with roughly cut sandstone voussoirs.
This limekiln is an important reminder of the social and economic importance of the once common limekiln providing the versatile product burnt lime for a variety of functions from limewash to fertilizer and lime mortar. Its survival in its original form makes a valuable contribution to the industrial and social heritage of the area.
