What is recorded here

The fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Rathglass (tireragh By., Templeboy North Ed) is in County Sligo, Ireland. The raised circular area spans 25 metres and contains a deep central pit that may be a collapsed underground passage. A field fence bisects the site, while a ditch of uncertain age marks the southern edge.
Situated at the E edge of a low rise in pasture. Raised circular area (diam. 25m E-W) defined by a scarp (ext. H 0.5 at W, 0.8-1m at E). At the base of the scarp at S is a ditch (Wth. 2.8-3.2m; D 0.6m) of uncertain antiquity. In the E half of the interior there is a low scarp, curving NE-SE, to E of which there is a drop in interior ground level of 0.5m. Centrally located within the interior is a deep pit (11m E-W; 4-5m N-S; D 1.3m), possibly a collapsed Man-made underground passage (SL012-066002-). The rath is bisected roughly centrally by an E-W field fence. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 19 January 2011
