Situated c. 55m ENE of the foundations of Raffony church and outside of the original perimeter of the ecclesiastical establishment (CV039-071001-). The well is semicircular and is enclosed by a drystone wall and roofed by two flat slabs. Entrance is at S where there is a semicircular stone-built area which appears to be some sort of forecourt. Three apparently modern cross-inscribed stones lie on the roof. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). Linked to Saint Indicated, the well is traditionally associated with cures for skin ailments and was historically visited by the sick for ritual washing. The site's proximity to the former church suggests its use within a broader Christian devotional landscape.
