What is recorded here

On a slight rise in otherwise level grassland. A slightly raised lozenge-shaped platform (E-W 30m, N-S c. 28m) defined by a bank of earth and stone and external fosse. The bank, on which some stone revetment is visible, runs intermittently along the perimeter; the fosse is very overgrown and its edges are indistinct. In the interior are the stumps of several uprooted trees. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
