Mid/late 19th-century lime kiln, built between rock outcropping, in quarry immediately W of Carriganoura Castle (14361). Front wall (H c. 6m; Wth c. 12m) faces S; arched recess (H 2.28m; Wth 2.67m; D 3.72m) with cut-stone voussoirs, sloping slabs at rear, iron surround around ope (H 0.3m; Wth 0.55m) at base. Brick-lined funnel (diam. 2.55m). Partially removed ramp approaches rear from E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
