What is recorded here
Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Cloonskeeveen, County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies the top of a north-facing drumlin slope and contains a circular grass area twenty-six and a half metres across. A slight earthen bank and scarp define the edge, while an outer fosse appears as a band of wet ground elsewhere. Four other raths lie within one hundred and seventy metres in different directions.
Towards the top of the N-facing slope of a drumlin. Circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 26.5m N-S) defined by a slight but overgrown earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 1m) NE-SE and a scarp (H 0.7m at S to 1.1m at NE) elsewhere, with an outer fosse (Wth of base 2-3m; D 0.2-0.35m) NE-E-SW visible as a band of wet ground (Wth 3.5m) elsewhere. There is no identifiable original entrance, but a house site (RO011-024001-) (int. dims 2.2m E-W; 2m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 1-1.2m; int. H 0.1-0.5m; ext. H 0.3-0.8m) is immediately outside the bank at E. Rath (RO011-025----) is c. 70m to the ESE, rath (RO011-027----) is c. 150m to the SE, rath (RO011-026----) is c. 160m to the S, and rath (RO011-023----) is c. 170m to the WSW.
