What is recorded here

In pasture, on NE-facing slope. Indicated on 1842 OS 6-inch map as irregular tree-planted area; on 1906 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps indicated as roughly rectangular area (c. 25m x c. 18m). Circular area (22.4m N-S; 21.1m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.9m; ext. H 0.35m). Interior, lower than surrounding terrain, partially overgrown with bushes; fist-size stones scattered over surface; rock outcropping at N side and in centre. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000).
