Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Barnacoghil, County Sligo, Ireland. The circular earthwork sits on an east-west pasture ridge and contains a collapsed underground passage in its western half. Patrick F. O'Donovan compiled the details in January 2011.
Situated on top of an E-W ridge in pasture. Raised circular area (diam. c. 32m) enclosed at S–W by an earthen bank (Wth 3.7m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1.45m) and at WNW–N by a low scarp, levelled to a slight undulation at NNE–SSE. At the outer foot of the bank at S–WNW is a fosse (Wth 2.4m) and outer bank (Wth. c. 4.4m; ext. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.45m). Immediately outside the outer bank are a disused trackway and a field fence which skirt the rath at S–NNW. Within the W half of the interior is a collapsed Man-made underground passage (SL018-025002-). Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 19 January 2011
