What is recorded here
Cullomane East preserves a square hut site measuring 2.9 metres inside a rath. The small dimensions suggest a cramped chamber where breath, firelight and human presence filled every corner. It is easy to imagine someone standing in that narrow space, listening to the wind move across West Cork while the earth held steady around them.
In rath (CO118-069----). Square hut site (2.9m N-S; 2.9m E-W) in SW quadrant of interior.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
