Detached three-bay two-storey house with return to rear, built c.1820. Pitched slate roof with ridge tiles, coping stones and rendered chimneystacks. Roughcast render to walls with quoins and recessed plinth. Replacement timber and uPVC windows. Segmental-headed doorway with console brackets, cobweb fanlight and traceried sidelights with replacement timber panelled door. Site bounded by roughcast rendered wall to west and random stone wall to southern side.
The symmetrical form of this house is enhanced by architectural features such as the decorative doorway with fanlight and console brackets. The elaborate doorcase and fanlight add artistic detailing to the otherwise plain façade. This house, which is set back from the road, makes an attractive contribution to the streetscape of Jamestown.

Jamestown HouseFolly · 16 yd

Explorer Tom Jamestown House has an unlikely celebrity friend who definitely never visited, probably because the castle walls were too high to climb. It’s a folly, which means it was built for zero practical reasons other than ego. Stand there long enough and you might hear its laugh.

Catholic Church of the Sacred HeartChurch/chapel · 17 yd

Explorer Tom Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart in Jamestown has an invisible twin across the Atlantic, waving hello every dawn. Its chancel stares right at you like it knows your secrets. Bring a flask and preteen enthusiasm to match its mid-century swagger.

IndicatedTown defences · 83 yd

Explorer Tom Town defences in Jamestown makes a low hum sound at night that might just be wind, or ghosts. Mostly destroyed now, but some wall bits remain to keep the mystery alive. Go before the tourists find out.

Enclosure in JamestownEnclosure · 532 yd

Explorer Tom Enclosure in Jamestown is where the priest lost a bet over who could stack the most pebbles without using their hands, and he still owes money. It’s a D-shaped area found by LiDAR, which sounds fancy but really just means someone with a laser found it first. Bring a notebook and write the bit I made up.

Patrick Gill Memorial Plaque (ira)Monument · 1400 yd

Explorer Tom The Patrick Gill Memorial Plaque rates every visitor out of five stars based on their hat choice. Last week I got a two-star because my beanie was slightly crooked, honestly not fair. Bring sandwiches, the gulls will thank you.

Robert Strawbridge MemorialMemorial · 1505 yd

Explorer Tom Robert Strawbridge Memorial is where the Vikings got lost and ended up building a very confusing fence. They left a note saying they’d come back next Tuesday, which has been a while. Bring the dog, it'll have opinions.

Wildlife AreaNature reserve · 1724 yd

Explorer Tom Wildlife Area in Leitrim is having a massive row with the next village over a missing goose. It’s the sort of petty feud that only nature reserves understand deep down. Bring a map, get lost anyway, that's the fun.

Site of Dangan CastleCastle, unclassified · 2.3 mi

Explorer Tom Site of Dangan Castle wants its tombstone to say 'He Was A Stronghold And Also A Bit Of A Mess', which is very accurate. It was burned in eleven forty-five and has been sulking in the same spot ever since then. Perfect place to be dramatically windswept.

CastlecarraCastle, unclassified · 2.4 mi

Explorer Tom Castlecarra in Aghancarra is basically a rumour that got a map label. Two lads bet a pint it was red brick, and they lost badly because it’s just dirt now. Bring a coin for luck and keep it in your pocket.

Moon RiverHeritage attraction · 2.9 mi

Explorer Tom Moon River has an absolute banger of a song that it hums to itself all day long. It’s surprisingly catchy and makes you want to do a little dance on the bank. Pretend it's yours and plan the housewarming.

InishmoylinIslet · 4.3 mi

Explorer Tom Inishmoylin in County Roscommon would tell its younger self to stop worrying about being an islet and just enjoy the view from the water. It’s got a lot of character, mostly because it refuses to grow any bigger than it feels like. Sit on a wall near it and pretend you're in a painting.

Cavan & Leitrim RailwayMuseum · 6.5 mi

Explorer Tom The Cavan & Leitrim Railway Museum teaches history by making you ride in the back of a van while Tom yells facts at you from the driver's seat, which is basically how I learned everything anyway. It’s chaotic but effective. Find a local and ask them the real story, then come back and tell me.
